装修小白必看：新手装修建材购买全攻略Renovation 101 — where to buy materials
去年装修了一套房子，总结了一些建材购买 tips，适合新手装修小白。
1. 瓷砖
不建议去 Home Depot 或 Lowe's 买每尺一两块钱的瓷砖。
- 性价比首选：Floor & Decor — 款式多、各种价位都有，分店多
- 中高端：Bull Nose — 陈列和展示间都做得很好，瓷砖产自意大利、西班牙、美国，取货退货高效。买单前记得让他们给 contractor discount
- 最近也不少人推荐 Bedrosians Tile & Stone，价格相对更有优势
- 高端：Lusso — 想看真正高级感的可以去他家
2. 地板
一般不太选实木（不好护理且贵）。
- Engineer wood：大气、有质感；缺点是没有 SPC 那么抗噪
- SPC：现在比较流行，防水抗噪、价格实惠，有仿 engineer wood 纹路，最厚现在可做到 8mm。缺点是质感不如 engineer wood
- 去 KASSA 可以一次看完各种地板对比、颜色质感
- SPC 我找到一家特别好的，可以问我
3. 橱柜 / Vanity
- 普通：ZMC — 种类繁多，悬浮柜挺现代，地板也能看，可以先 quote 价格；方太代理的厚体橱柜性价比很高；另外 U-Save 据说也不错，悬浮柜价格不错
- 中端：KASSA — 半欧式橱柜很漂亮，有专门设计师可以现场出图，counter top 也不错
- 高端：欧式柜（比如 Lusso 展厅）——价格非常昂贵但确实漂亮
- Vanity 很多华人会选华人橱柜公司（悬浮柜很现代）。普通白色 Costco 官网有标准尺寸的，台面和柜子一体，质量款式都不错，事实证明性价比很高
4. Shower Door & 五金
- 尺寸比较特殊的话可以在 Home Depot 订
- Kassa 也有，价格挺好，看橱柜时可以一起看
- Faucet 和 shower head：Kassa 的也很漂亮；Amazon 订性价比也挺高。装完对比之下，找师傅定制的质量更胜一筹，且价格也差不多
5. 油漆
自住的话不建议去 Home Depot，推荐 Benjamin Moore：
- 底漆是零甲醛
- 颜色选择非常多
- 近来流行的颜色是 Gray Owl，不同光线下的效果都很喜欢
I renovated a house last year. Here are the materials-shopping notes I wish I had — written for first-time renovators.
1. Tile
Skip the $1–2/sqft tile at Home Depot or Lowe's.
- Best value: Floor & Decor — wide style range, every price band, lots of locations
- Mid-to-high: Bull Nose — strong showroom, Italian / Spanish / US tile, efficient pickup & returns. Always ask for the contractor discount at checkout
- Also worth checking: Bedrosians Tile & Stone — better pricing edge lately
- High-end: Lusso — go here for the truly premium look
2. Flooring
Generally skip real hardwood — high maintenance and expensive.
- Engineered wood: refined feel, premium look. Downside: less sound-dampening than SPC
- SPC: trending — waterproof, quiet, affordable, mimics engineered wood, up to 8mm thick. Downside: less tactile depth than engineered

3. Cabinets & Vanity
- Budget: ZMC — wide range, modern floating cabinets, also stocks flooring; Fortune's heavy-build cabinets are solid value; U-Save also reported good for floating cabinet pricing
- Mid-range: KASSA — beautiful semi-European cabinetry, on-site designers, decent counter tops
- High-end: European cabinetry (e.g. Lusso's showroom) — expensive but genuinely beautiful
- Many Chinese-American buyers go to Chinese cabinet companies for floating vanity styles. For a plain white vanity, Costco's online catalog has standard sizes with integrated tops — quality and look are good, value is excellent
4. Shower Doors & Fixtures
- Custom sizing: Home Depot works
- Kassa stocks shower doors at good prices — bundle with the cabinet visit
- Faucet & shower head: Kassa's are nice; Amazon offers good value too. But after the install, custom-from-a-tradesman quality beats both at roughly the same price
5. Paint
For owner-occupied: skip Home Depot. Go to Benjamin Moore:
- Zero-formaldehyde primer
- Huge color range
- Trending right now: Gray Owl — reads beautifully across different lighting
